And We're Walking . . .

Eliza crawled at such an early age that I was sure that meant she would be walking early too. Not so much. Finally she is starting to take steps by herself . . . but she seems to prefer crawling to walking. I think it is because she can move so much faster when she crawls. (We don't call her Speed Racer for nothing!)

Even though she is walking some - I have not been able to capture it on video (aaarrrr). Every time I have the video camera out - she knows what I am doing - so she smiles and then sits down and refuses to walk.

I took this picture this morning, before I dropped her off at school. She's not walking in this picture but she sure is happy. Do you think she will always be this happy to go to school on Mondays?

  1. She is so happy, I love it! You know, Norah was a very early crawler too and when I expressed concern to our pediatrician that she would also be an early walker (we are SO not ready for that!), she said that the 2 don't necessarily go hand in hand. Especially because early crawlers get REALLY good and fast at crawling (Speed Racer for sure!) and so have less motivation to walk because they get around so much easier crawling.

  2. I definitely think Eliza will always be a happy girl to go to school. She's my little mamacita and I'm going to save a ferry tattoo for her. They glow in the dark.

  3. Spencer was in a really good mood on Monday morning too. They are kindred spirits.

Crawling isn't even considered a developmental norm because there is so much variability between babies. When I am looking for delays in kids my forms don't even ask about crawling because it doesn't tell you anything. Once she figures out that walking is more comfortable there will be no stopping her.
