I knew that it was time to convert her crib into a toddler bed. She watched very intently and asked several times what I was doing. I told her I was making her a big girl bed. She was very excited. Once I finished, I let her play in the bed some and she practiced getting in and out. She had a grand time putting Albert and Baby in the bed and reading them a night - night book. Eliza has always been a TERRIFIC sleeper, so I really wanted her to feel comfortable with her new sleeping arrangements.
I have to admit that even though Eliza was excited, I did feel a wee bit weepy. Realistically, I know she can't stay a baby forever but time is moving at lightning speed.
As if all of that wasn't enough change for one day, at dinner tonight she climbed up to the table and very simply stated, "Eliza big girl - no high chair."
She sat there the whole meal and did a great job in her big girl chair.
Yup . . . the times they are a changing.

This is what I found when I went into her room to check on her.

I am so not ready for this change. Norah hasn't tried to make any great escapes yet, thank goodness, but I am in constant fear of it! E is going to do great as a 'big girl'.
ReplyDeleteI love an independent girl who speaks her mind. Eliza would get along famously with her 2nd cousin!!
ReplyDeleteWow,Eliza is now a Big Girl ,Grandaddy and I are very proud of her.

Ahhhh. What a great day and great post. She really is big girl. Spencer was in a booster seat at about 18 months but right after he turned 2 he rejected that. It's funny how they get these ideas in their heads.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who just put her 3 year old into a big girl bed and it is turning out to be a very hard transition. She thinks she waited too long. Hopefully your timing will turn out to be just right with Eliza.
