We Are Family

Recently Eliza and I had the opportunity to have a little R&R time at my mom's. Although Eliza always loves spending time at Grammy and Grand Daddy's "farm", this trip was extra special because Aunt Mare flew in from Arizona and Uncle A.J. and his family drove in from El Paso. Eliza was so excited to have time with her cousins and she quickly became Nicole's shadow.

We also had the opportunity to spend some time with my grandfather and take him out to lunch. It was really great to spend some time with him - it makes my heart happy to see him thriving and doing so well.

I was also super excited that my cousins Janet and Amy along with their sweet kiddos came over to see us and spend some time with us. Eliza had a great time meeting Norah and playing the "Can You Name the Villain?" game. Thanks Norah for teaching it to us. It is a game that we now play quite often when we are in the car. We were also excited to see Reid again and to finally have the chance to meet Louis.

I had to include this picture of A.J. and Joey even though it is not a great picture because it is the only picture I have where Joey is not a complete and total blur! Joey is always on the go - he is a mover and a shaker.

We wrapped up our fun weekend with a little pampering at the nail salon courtesy of Grammy.

Be Our Guest

Aunt Mare and Uncle John know the way to a four year olds heart . . . . dress up clothes! Eliza loves to play tea party while wearing her Belle dress and she always says, "Look at me Mom - I'm fancy!"

Go Texan Day

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a B-I-G deal in our city - so much so that most area schools (including Eliza's preschool) designate the Friday before the official kick off as "Go Texan Day". Finding the right outfit for Go Texan Day - or Cowgirl Day (as Eliza calls it) was a bit tougher this year.

Eliza has decided that she wants to only wear dresses or skirts - no pants, jeans or shorts. I tried to convince her that even cowgirls wear jeans but she wasn't buying it. Once again I got lucky at my favorite children's resale store and found the perfect dress and on sale to boot! I know Eliza's favorite part of Go Texan Day was learning to say YEE - HAW

Santa Pictures

In past years we have made the trek to mall and stood in line for a lengthy amount of time for a chance for Eliza to talk to Santa and have her picture made with him. This year our visit with Santa didn't require a trip to the mall or a long line! The Little Gym (where Eliza take gymnastics and dance) hosted a night with Santa. It was the best thing ever. We had a designated time to meet with Santa and professional photographer to take pictures. I was able to snap these quick shots during her photo session. I was so impressed with the professional pictures - without a doubt her best Santa pictures.

Eliza seems to be officially over her Santa fear and this Santa was super sweet and truly jolly. As she was leaving Santa told her not to forget to put out cookies for him. She asked him if he liked Oreo cookies (her current favorite) and he told her that sugar cookies were his favorite. She hounded me for days about making sure that we had sugar cookies for Santa! Luckily for Santa we didn't forget and I am sure he enjoyed his sugar cookies with red and green sprinkles!

Christmas Program

On December 12th, Eliza's school held their annual Christmas program. Eliza's previous school never held any type of holiday program so this was a first for us. I was able to capture a few cute pictures by the tree before we left.

I thought it might be fun to curl her hair since I had never done anything like that before. I offered to curl her hair for the big performance and she actually let me! I thought that our first time using hot rollers turned out pretty well. She was so proud of her curly hair that she asked me to take a picture of it.

We were quite impressed how smoothly and efficiently the program was run.

Each class performed one Christmas carol. Eliza's class sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. They did a great job plus they were extra adorable with their little reindeer antlers. Eliza was so excited about being on stage - I think she is indeed a diva in training!

Eliza did a great job and was super excited that her Grandma and Grandpa were able to come see her perform.
